to want to use the air con?

I work in an office with nine other people. 3 constantly complain they are cold and have huge strops if the air con is switched on or the window is opened. 5 of us are struggling in the heat. One person vomitted today at work (showing signs of heat stroke) while my asthma is being difficult - daily attacks in the office, fine elsewhere.

The office manager won't do anything because whatever she does someone will be cross. But, those of us who are to warm are dressed appropriately (linen trousers/dresses, light tops, sandals) while those who claim to be freezing (yes they are saying it is freezing when it is 26+ degrees in there) refuse to put on a cardigan pr wear trousers/tights because its summer and why should they.

For info, both me and another warm colleague have chosen to sit under the air con, they have no direct breeze on them. When someone turns on the air con it is slapped off aggressively within a few minutes. Similarly, if a window is opened it is slammed closed.

The atmosphere in the office is horrible, I admit I told one person to go to hell today when they were snapping at me it was cold because she said so.

So AIBU to expect the air con to be used in the middle of summer when it is 26+ degrees in a room with ten people in it?

And how would you deal with it? We are planning to go to management/ HR tomorrow and would appreciate some strategies and suggestions.

YANBU that's nuts. I can't think straight when it's hot.

Anybody who claims they are cold in this weather hasn’t a serious issue.

And if they are, in the words of my dad, they can put a jumper on.

This is what I think. I actually said last week I could wear less clothing bit not sure people want to see me sitting in my bra and pants!

YANBU, people who feel the cold can just wear more clothing. Those who suffer the heat can't take everything off!

I would say to HR that it’s an important issue for menopausal women and I’d also take my thermometer to check heat and humidity. If it goes over 22 or so then say you will be working from home!
