DH thinks metal stair rods are a hazard!?

Hi all

We're giving our gloomy hallway a makeover and having new carpet fitted on the stairs. I would love to have some metal stair rods fitted (pic attached) to give it that extra special look. They wouldn't serve a purpose as the carpet would already be stuck down..I just love the look of them.

DH is dead against it, saying that they are dangerous and are an injury hazard. He said people can stub their toe on them?? and that our toddler could get injured.

Am I being unreasonable for wanting stair rods?

They look nice if the stair carpet is just in the middle. They would look a bit odd if the carpet covers the whole stairs.

Your DH is being utterly ridiculous. They aren’t a hazard at all.

I've got children and a busy household and never had a stubbed toe on our stair rods. We love them. They definitely smarten up a space.

It can be a trip hazard if they're actually holding down the carpet as it can take at the sides, but if they're just decorative then no problem. However I think they are a bit odd in a normal semi. Maybe if you have a grand staircase that splits to each wing of your house it'd look good.

We had these when we were kids and would pull them out for sword fights lol. So it they are properly nailed down it should be ok

He's being daft but I think they look daft so I wouldn't get them
