To think this is a weird way to refer to someone of this age?

An old colleague of mine died at 38 years old.
I overheard someone say 'She wasn't much more than a baby.'
This person is about late fifties who said it.
Aibu to say that although it's tragic and a young age to die, she was hardly a child ?

I think it’s odd that you’ve started a thread about it. Of course, it’s not accurate, no. However, if somebody a person knows has died aged 38, I don’t think you need to examine their vocabulary and post about it.

I would understand if someone said thie about someone in their twenties but no, not thirties.

No it's weird but did they have kids? Some old people with children think anyone without them is a child.

What a nasty thread! 38 is incredibly young and tragic to die!

MollysBrolly · 14/06/2023 21:54

Same as William and Harry are constantly referred to as Boys, but are grown up and 40 and nearly 40

flagpie · 14/06/2023 21:57

She didn't mean it literally, she meant she was far too young to die. You must know that though?

This. Crass OP. Get the thread taken down.
