To not return to this hair salon

I’ll start this by saying the hairdresser is lovely and always very friendly

Costs have risen and I understand this but go less frequently these days to minimise the impact on my purse. Paid the best part of £100.

I had a cut and colour this morning. I was in and out in just short of an hour, which is the fastest appointment I’ve ever had. She did seem rushed off her feet, but I arrived home to find my cheeks and temples stained in hair dye. My ears have been itching like mad this afternoon and I’ve realised it’s because they are also stained with dye. In the middle of my wet cut she also crossed the salon to answer the phone, and the phone call lasted 10 minutes so I kept my neck bent the whole time to make sure the cut would be even when she came back. When she came back over she didn’t apologise and just went on seemingly as quickly as she could

AIBU to go elsewhere or is this the standard experience?

You're being unreasonable to think you need to justify where you get your haircut to anyone.

To be fair, she didn't ask you to keep your neck bent. Unless she was chatting on a personal level I don't think that much has really happened here.

NewPinkJacket · 14/06/2023 18:47

You must know it's not the 'standard experience', otherwise it would happen every time you went there?

GonnaGetGoingReturns · 14/06/2023 18:50

These two things by themselves aren’t huge just raise them with her on your next visit or ring reception and tell them. I wouldn’t be overly happy with a call lasting 10 minutes, most hair stylists I know speak for a few or 5 minutes at most.

You can change hair salon for any reason though as @WunWun says, you don’t need to give a reason.

I think also re standard experience, it’s not the best but it’s not terrible by any means.

LakeTiticaca · 14/06/2023 19:19

Hairdresser should have either let go to voicemail or told the caller she would ring back. In and out I under an hour for a colour and cut, which makes it 50 mins after her phone conversation, seems a very short time. I wouldn't go back.

Bluevelvetsofa · 14/06/2023 19:28

How long was the colour on for. I’d expect at least half an hour and probably longer. Did you have a toner? I expect to spend 50-60 minutes for a wash and cut and linger for a colour as well.

Last time I went for cut and colour which involved a gloss treatment after rising out colour I paid £85 and was there for about 3.5 hours.

You didn't have to sit with your neck bent. She would have been able to keep it even.

Did you get it dried? Do you have very short hair?

Thewizardbinbag · 08/09/2023 13:59

Why did you sit with your neck bent? She would have just sorted the hair back into position and continued with the cut. You didn’t do anything to help there.
