To think £408 is a lot for school Chromebook!

Dd starts secondary this year and like many secondaries they require a laptop / pad / Chromebook.

Got the email today saying school has worked hard at securing the lowest costs for the Chromebook they require kids to have and it's £408! I was expecting a few hundred but I'm shocked at the cost.

Other local school have iPad and parent are charged £198 towards the cost.

AIBU to think £408 is bloody expensive?

Ridiculous! Where do they go to school? That would be unaffordable to most where I live.

Go and google to see if you can find cheaper, we did (wasn't a chromebook tho).

You don't HAVE to buy via school.

Ours was £375.00, they did offer instalments but it works out much more expensive in the long run. You can buy your own though as PP said.

Yes I could buy my own but it's hard when all her friends are getting school one, we live in the south east. With uniform lunch money etc it's working out so expensive!
