To get my own secret freezer?

The DC have eaten all my expensive yoghurt ice lollies again. Sainsbury's only came yesterday! They aren't deprived of other options: mini milks and freeze pops are both on offer. But no, it's always my expensive low-fat ones that disappear 😡

WIBU to get my own freezer, hide it in the garage and stuff it full of goodies for me only?

Why not just put your ice lollies in packets of things they won't look into? Crumbed fish, frozen spinach, frozen kippers etc- or any packet they won't bother with.

AlisonDonut · 11/06/2023 18:44

Can you not put them into an old [thing the kids hate] box and hide it at the bottom? Bit cheaper than running another freezer!

wildinthecountry · 11/06/2023 18:46

Yeah just hide them in say a frozen peas bag . I also used to hide my treats in the cleaning cupboard .

Give the children a tupperware in the freezer so that is theirs? Although I'd ban them from the lollies until further notice for their greed😃

Genius! Go shopping in the freezer section for something with a suitable shaped box and then refill with your treats and keep it at the bottom! I might steal this idea!

LoopyLoo1991 · 11/06/2023 18:56

A bracket and padlock would be cheaper? Stops kids leaving it open & defrosting everything as well.

That is a genius suggestion. Cheaper than a new freezer too!

Giving them their own tupperware etc. doesn't work. They know those lollies are mine!

clever idea. i put my treats in my wardrobe ! 😂

Hankunamatata · 11/06/2023 19:11

I'd be turning wi fi off/devices for every lolly of mine they ate

Mrsjayy · 11/06/2023 19:15

If they are nicking your treats I'd ban them from the freezer or you delegate treats come on woman up !

You want one of these: Lockabox Oneâ„¢ | Compact and Hygienic Lockable Box for Food, Medicines, Tech and Home Safety (Crystal) amzn.eu/d/9Hh5fXY

I like the idea of them being able to see the treats but not access them Grin

We would be gifted a 5lb box of premium chocolates for Christmas every year by my dad’s business associate.
Mum would allow us a couple of pieces and then hide the box and eat the rest herself.

xyz111 · 11/06/2023 20:27

I know this thread is light hearted, but if they ate my food and knew it was mine, I would be having serious words!!!

BlowDryRat · 11/06/2023 20:36

Well, to be fair to them I didn't explicitly say that they were mine and not fair game, but they knew. I told them last year and the moaning was incredible.

I'd quite like my own little secret house. Stays tidy, no one empties the cupboards, eats my stuff etc. Separate Netflix so no one messes up my algorithm. Just round the corner so I'm not out for long and no one misses me. But no one knows it's mine.

My childhood NDN had this. She and her DP kept a "cooling off" flat in the next road for one of them to stay in after their epic rows every few weeks. I used to watch them throwing plates at eachother through the kitchen window!
