that bl**dy tardigrade in Google ads how can I get rid of it?

Every time I access this site on every page, and I mean every page and every single time - both on the top banner and the side banner, I get a Temu add that includes a soft toy tardigrade that is really creepy. I don't like looking at it as it makes me feel a bit queezy. I think it's a touch of that thing where people don't like small holes.

I keep clicking on the close add, send feedback and have a million times reported all the different options - seen ad multiple times, inapproriate, not interested.

NOTHING WORKS. Anyone know how I can stop this ad appearing again and again as I just don't want to see it?

I'm using Firefox and have do not track switched on.

I've had the same and I really hate it, that and the octopus baby Sad

Ameanstreakamilewide · 10/06/2023 16:41

Me too.

JeandeServiette · 10/06/2023 16:41

Oh is THAT what that is? Yucky looking thing.

PoxyAndIKnowIt · 10/06/2023 16:52

I never see it, but I think it’s cute!

(sorry, not helpful)

Get an ad blocker.

But tardigrades are awesome so you are wrong on that one.

stbrandonsboat · 10/06/2023 17:04

Google keep sending me ads about cruelty to pigs. I'm bloody traumatised. I don't even eat meat.

Justleaveitblankthen · 10/06/2023 17:18

I use the App and have never seen it. Can't bear the website, the ads are so invasive.

The only way I know to get rid of ads following me around is to go into my browser preferences and delete all cookies.

How do you do that on Android? Is clearing the cache the same thing?

topcat2014 · 10/06/2023 17:48

I thought it was some kind of louse. I agree it is gross

As an aside tardigrades are really cool. They can survive in really harsh environments from blistering volcanic heat, to the top of Mount Everest. Under a microscope they really do look like miniature aliens, kind of seriously ugly and seriously cute.

I agree about duckduckgo. It really is night and day. I had such hopes for it when I first tried it, but the search results are just not as useful as Google's. Bing is ok, but Google is the one that consistently gives me the most relevant and useful results. Much as I would prefer to use duckduckgo, the extra time needed just isn't worth it.

I really don't like Bing at all. I find it often misses the most obvious top hit.

Google is much more accurate I find especially for more complex searching

Ive never used duckduckgo. Is it good?

Ad blockers I found caused problems with some websites and popups that you actually want to access so I don't use them - but maybe I should revisit.

Yes! I even messaged my friend about it earlier, it really gives me the willies. And to prove the point

I hate seeing Temu ads full stop. Anything that costs £1.27 must be wrong in so many ways.

Florissant · 10/06/2023 22:42

I use AdBlock and DuckDuckGo so as to avoid just what you are referring to, OP.
