To leave a job i like for a new one

I currently work part time in a job I love. I have worked there for 5 years get on with all my colleagues, comfortable etc. The job is a half an hour drive both ways sometimes longer due to traffic. I am a single parent and get Xmas holidays and public holidays off so I don't need to find childcare (I have none) and in summer holidays I only work 2 days per week.

New job is in a private nursery 3 days per week and is closer to my house. It would mean I could pick my daughter up from school 2 days a week. But it means I would need to work all year round and need to find childcare for public and school holidays as her own childcare is closed. I also visited the nursery and didn't get the best vibe. Unsure if this is just nerves.

Pay is slighly more for my current job but once petrol costs are taking off they work out the same.

No I wouldn't change of the costs work out the same

No, not for somewhere you don't get a good vibe from.

If you literally have no childcare, finding childcare for the school holidays will be VERY expensive. Make sure you factor that in.

SaveMeFromForearms · 09/06/2023 10:29

Doesn't sound worth it, the extra childcare would cost a fortune, and it's not always that simple; often it's, say, 10am-3pm or something else unhelpful to working parents!

Stay where you are!

No I wouldn't, where you are sounds a better arrangement overall
