We moved into a new house this year.
Since then, NDN has been doing one loud activity after another every weekend during daytime hours.
These have included: building an outhouse (with concrete grinding), felling several large trees with a chainsaw, and most recently repairing a dirt bike with stop-start loud revving and smelly fumes over the course of a few hours.
NDNs have once recognised and apologised for noise (delivery of concrete early on a Saturday morning, I think) We've been agreeable and friendly as want to be on good terms and they seem otherwise fine - however they left a typed note asking on our car asking us not to park across our own driveway on our moving in/unloading day (said it affected him turning out his own drive)
When the very loud motorbike revving lasted into a second weekend and fumes filled the garden when our kids were playing out, we asked politely if he could do it another time. He eventually heard us over the din and didn't look happy. He hasn't done it since to be fair, but the weekend is coming up so we'll see what happens - edit to add : He's just started on the motorbike again now!
We're now concerned he's built this outhouse for the purpose of doing motorbike repairs etc at the weekends. We understand he's free to do his hobbies etc in his garden , but what sort of noise levels/smoke pollution are generally considered ok in adjoining gardens?
We love our garden and bought the house primarily on the basis of summer days and evenings sitting out enjoying it.
