Ive asked in health but posting here cos this section is so popular... .. So I fancied some chips.. but trying to lose weight. I sliced a potato added onion pepper garlic and spices, sprayed a couple squirrs of oil and rubbed in.. then air fryer. So like salt and pepper chips.. . reason I'm asking is they were so nice I think I'm missing how unhealthy they are? . Any advice, is this a good way for a chips fix? .

No food is bad, it's the volume that needs checking. So what you made sounds healthy and nutritious as part of a balanced diet.

It’s a potato. It’s not intrinsically unhealthy.

What scale of unhealthiness are you using?

Everyone has different nutritional needs. Something can be high calorie/fat and also healthy, or low calorie/fat and unhealthy. You won't lose weight by obsessing about whether something is a 8 out of 10 or a 9 out of 10 for "unhealthiness"

That's pretty much how they make flavoured oven chips, they have less fat than deep fried so fewer calories.

No such thing as an unhealthy food, the only thing is an unhealthy lifestyle (or healthy lifestyle) or diet.

Every thing in moderation.

I do similar but par boil the chips for a few minutes to make them fluffy.
A few squirts of oil won't stop you losing weight.

Is this really the first time you've made your own potato wedges?

It's a potato, how bad could it be? Tap it all into My Fitness Pal or a similar app if you want to see a breakdown of calories, fat etc.
