Would chickpeas work in a stir fry instead of rice?

Feeling uncertain. If I have no rice, could I chuck chickpeas in with the veg instead to add bulk? Yay or nay?

Yes, I certainly would anyway. I put all sorts together.

00100001 · 06/06/2023 21:53

No 🤢

Ohwowza · 06/06/2023 21:54

Definitely.

Newyeardietstartstomorrow · 06/06/2023 21:55

I would. I love chick peas, and if you are veggie they are a good source of protein and more satisfying.

Sigmama · 06/06/2023 21:55

God yes

IComeLastInAllTheRaces · 06/06/2023 21:57

I love chickpeas too, think I'll go for it!

Mm, i shall have chickpeas tomorrow with stirfry, thanks for the idea op!

EarringsandLipstick · 06/06/2023 22:16

But you don't put rice in a stir fry? You serve it with it, cooked separately?

Chickpeas won't work in a stir fry, in terms of texture & what a stir fry is supposed to be - light thinly cut protein / veg, sauce.

However, you can use them & it'll be fine - just not a stir fry!

mumda · 06/06/2023 22:32

Can you airfry chickpeas?

sourcorn · 06/06/2023 22:34

Only if you make sure they are absolutely cooked through. Otherwise they can make you very ill.

Can you airfry chickpeas?

Could try one and see? Would be interesting to know.

dudsville · 06/06/2023 22:48

I'm imaging oven roasted seasoned chickpeas

Can you airfry chickpeas?

Toss in olive oil, garlic, salt, pepper and air fry. Delicious.

TheFormidableMrsC · 06/06/2023 23:23

To add. I use tinned and they need to be dry before you coat and air fry them

HikerMum · 06/06/2023 23:26

Love this idea!! Thanks OP! Will update with any good recipes

Have you never heard of stir-fried rice? I'm assuming that is what the OP is wanting to modify with chick peas.

Never heard of egg fried rice?

I like chickpeas but I wouldn’t fancy this.
Each to their own though
