Do neighbours not realise or just don’t care!?

My neighbours are driving me insane!!! Lawn mowers or strimmers 7.30am every Sunday - it’s all day - lawn isn’t that big and grass doesn’t grow that quick! The dog barks every single morning at 5.30am - I’ve turned my alarm off the dog is that predictable. Now they’re burning god knows what, but theres smoke bellowing out of their garden, my house stinks, I’ve closed the windows, but the house is visually smoky! Ran out to grab washing in quickly. Do these people not care or not realise they are a pain in the arse!? Moving soon thank god! Rant over!

You have my sympathy; I seem to be surrounded by inconsiderate people and it's brutal.

One neighbour refuses to scrape his car in the winter so he sits and revs his engine for 15 minutes at 7am - especially fun as he works shifts so it could be 7am on any given day.

One has a large dog that's left outside and allowed to bark and bark, no matter the time of day or night.

One only ever puts air in his car tyres at midnight or 7am. His air compressor must be older than I am because it takes forever, too.

Add in the cast iron gate that swings shut with a BOI-OI-OING every time someone leaves, the guy who leaves his mother's house but then proceeds to shout another full conversation from the bottom of the path, plus the screaming foxes having full moon sex parties under my window... I'm ready to go and live on the moon 🙃

I’d add people blasting music in their garden while having their smelly bbqs/fire pits/whatever. I don’t want to have to listen to your shit music, thanks.

@amusedbush that sounds truly awful! Why are people this ignorant!? P.s I’m coming to the moon with you!

@FlySwimmer yes we have one over the road too! They’re drowned out on a Sunday by the lawnmower. Oh how I wish they’d all live together somewhere.

Neighbours are awful. I actually have a thread going at the moment about my neighbour and his business. Honestly it's hell and I've cried so much over it,plus I'm dealing with a very complicated and rare terminal illness. Honestly some days I wish it would hurry up and take me as I can't deal with the added stress. Sorry to hear so many others have to deal with people like this

Christ we’ve got the same neighbours, except mine like to crank up Elvis and sing along. The two sets of anti-social next to me are all in their late 50s/60s with a fondness for drinking too much. It’s mind boggling, they love to scream and fight with their families and dogs (who never stop barking) like to burn thing and don’t seem to sleep. Give me a family of rowdy kids any day.

There’s quite a few posters on MN who say things like “if you expect quiet, you should live in the middle of nowhere”. Or “noise before 11pm is fine, it’s not like people are trying to sleep”. Or “they’ve got a right to enjoy their garden”.

Suspect this is how your neighbours feel.

Personally I’m more in the “urban life is only tolerable if we all keep the noise down” camp.

Our nearest neighbour (who built his house so it wasn't there when we moved in) has an obsession with bonfires. He doesn't want to have to pay for a green bin (his own words) so burns all garden material. At the moment he's averaging 3 or 4 bonfires a week, he has a big garden. He doesn't tell us, he just starts up and goes all day with the burning of things. It's driving me insane.

And we live rurally, so it's by no means a way to escape the inconsiderate neighbour problem.

That reminds me, I need to fix my gate.

@Psiaspops I’m so sorry to hear this. People are so selfish and inconsiderate. They don’t realise the stress they cause. Sending love 💐
