Caged and cut open for bile: The fight to free Asia’s farmed bears

This (and all of the other abhorrent legal animal cruelty in Asian countries) is just sickening and vile. I realize other countries have their share of horrible animal abuse, but culturally Asian countries seem to be the worst, and often for ridiculous useless ‘medicine’ and ‘potency’ treatments. AIBU to think other countries should pressure them to stop with all the horrors these cultures inflict on animals?

When the call came in, the staff at Animals Asia jumped into action. A bear in Vietnam’s northeastern Haiphong region had been kept captive for years, her bile harvested in painful and invasive ways – and the farmer was finally giving her up.
