To think fanny daggers are a sign that labour is going to start soon?

Today is my due date, and I'm having the worst fanny daggers ever!

No sign of contractions, but feel like my cervix is opening up.

Is this possible? Are the fanny daggers a sign that something is imminent?

I had random fanny daggers weeks before I gave birth to any of mine sorry.

trevthecat · 03/06/2023 14:28

I had them for weeks before too. Sorry. Hopefully not much longer for you

Robyn847 · 03/06/2023 14:29

Jeez, they'd better not be the sign of going into labour. I get them regularly and I'm not knowingly pregnant 🤣

CaptainMyCaptain · 03/06/2023 14:31

The onset of labour felt more like period cramps to me. I'm not sure what fanny daggers means though.

Buddythecat1 · 03/06/2023 14:33

I'm afraid not
I had them for about 3 weeks before hand with my first
And had them from 27 weeks with my second

Binningtonianrose · 03/06/2023 14:34

Lol, 'fanny daggers'

Nordicrain · 03/06/2023 14:34

Also not sure what they are.

Labour will start when it will start, and the early signs vary, no point in overanalysing every little thing.

Binningtonianrose · 03/06/2023 14:36

To be a bit more helpful, I had a massive cry, the night before all four of my labours started. A massive massive hormonal cry. Next day- action

CaptainMyCaptain · 03/06/2023 14:37

If fanny daggers means pain around the actual vagina I don't remember experiencing and particular pain there at any stage. It was all higher up - abdomen and back.

CaptainMyCaptain · 03/06/2023 14:37

any particular pain

HomeB · 03/06/2023 14:39

What on earth is that? Confused I didn't cry or have anything other than bad stomach cramping at the onset of labour.

HappiestSleeping · 03/06/2023 14:44

I thought this was to do with politics for a minute 🤣

Namechangeed · 03/06/2023 14:48

'fanny daggers' is hilarious and revolting at the same time. 🤣

I do remember having sharp pains in the weeks leading up to labour, I was induced though so not sure it's related really

OhmygodDont · 03/06/2023 14:54

I had zero signs at all. I fact I seem to wake up in labour and delivery with it 40minutes-4 hours of realising I’m in labour.

It can genuinely just happen any moment with or without signs sorry op.

AlfietheSchnauzer · 03/06/2023 15:39

Well I had it 3 days ago and I haven't had sex in 7 years Confused

I thought this was to do with politics for a minute 🤣

It does sound like a Tory mp's name, doesn't it?!

I thought this was to do with politics for a minute 🤣

Me too - thought it was about the general election and Labour’s women-hating policies!
