To hate my hair?! What can I do?

Moonandme123 · 02/06/2023 08:43

Treated myself to a haircut yesterday not something I can always afford. I decided to go shorter and showed the hairdresser where I wanted it when my hair was wet. She cut it where I said but of course when it dried it was a lot shorter. I hate it. I realise there is worse things to worry about but I’m so upset.
it flicks out. I look ridiculous. Any hairdressers out there who can help me?

I don't think that photo shows enough of your hair to make suggestions.

itsmylife7 · 02/06/2023 08:56

Looks like nice healthy hair OP.
Straighten it if you don't like the flick (if you don't have straighteners try and borrow some )

Moonandme123 · 02/06/2023 08:58

This is straightened. Normally I can straighten it well but with this hair cut it just pings straight back to its flick!

It’s hard to get a pic without showing my face!

Make do with what you got, style it, use straighteners, etc I wouldn't worry too much as it will grow long fairly quickly ❤️

vix3rd · 02/06/2023 09:02

I'm not sure what you're expecting a hairdresser to say ?
It's not like they can stick hair back on it ? Only thing they could do is cut it shorter.

Blottingpaperscript · 02/06/2023 09:03

I think it looks nice! Short healthy hair always looks better than long dry hair. Yours is nicer than my mixed-textured dry nightmare!

AssertiveGertrude · 02/06/2023 09:04

Can’t see anything wrong with it

kezziecakes · 02/06/2023 09:05

I hate it when I'm disappointed with a hairdresser visit so I know how you feel. It really is lovely, healthy looking hair and it will grow so quickly. I would just straighten it to get rid of the flick plus some products to make it lay flat.

SparklyBlackKitten · 02/06/2023 09:06

You hate it. But you can't make it grow longer overnight. So.... they say:if you can't beat them, join them (or ' it ' in this case 🤣)

Style it in a way you've never done it before. Go an explore cool 60's hairstyles. Or dutch braids. Or mega curls.

Make the most of the bad situation op

Im sorry the hairdresser cut it too short
I hate hairdressers when they do that. It chops your confidence and enhances a feeling of 😱 when you look in the mirror

I totally get it. We've all been there

But TRY to make something of it
A hair adventure 😁

whumpthereitis · 02/06/2023 09:09

Biotin is your friend. Use a shampoo and conditioner that stimulates hair growth - I recommend kerastase (check which range best suits). Massage your scalp as well. Beyond that, you unfortunately will have to wait it out.

Soccermumamir · 02/06/2023 09:10

I'm not a hairdresser, but it will flick out because of where the hair sits, and I'm assuming you have a natural wave to your hair? I've had haircuts that everyone else loved, but I hated. All you can really do is try and not use too much heat, wash it less often, and condition it every time. Use oils such as coconut and argon oil. Keep it healthy so that it grows quicker. Personally, though, I like it 🙂

Moonandme123 · 02/06/2023 09:19

The hairdresser has offered to cut a bit more off the back. Is this a good idea to make it look better for now?

Hankunamatata · 02/06/2023 09:23

I think it looks nice. If it straightens well you could go concave at the back with longer front. Like a long concave bob (o think that's right name), layer the back?

bryceQ · 02/06/2023 09:27

I think you have nice healthy hair I can't really see what you're upset about... Hair has movement

Missmarplesknittingbuddy · 02/06/2023 09:28

I think it looks absolutely fine . I have very fine flyaway hair with a slight random curl so would swap in a heartbeat .
If you have more cut off it will grow back to this length very soon and you will be back to where you are now .
Personally I think the slight wave makes it look less harsh than a dead straight style.

userhank · 02/06/2023 09:32

I think it looks lovely.

I am never that happy when I go to the hairdressers. I always think everyone else's hair looks lovely but mine never does. However this is my issue and not the hairdressers.

Wash it yourself and style it yourself and see what you think then.

I wouldn't get anymore chopped off the back if your unhappy with how short it is. That won't make you feel any better.

quietnightmare · 02/06/2023 09:37

Hot brush - use this to dry your hair and dry the ends in wards

userhank · 02/06/2023 09:39

Also I've learnt that if you have a lot chopped off your hair, it always looks A LOT shorter than you expect it too. Even if you have a picture you want to copy - your face shape, hair thickness, texture etc will mean it will look nothing like the picture.

Some people can have a bob hair cut and their hair still looks long. Others won't be able to tie it up because it's that short.

I do think yours looks lovely though

Calmdown14 · 02/06/2023 10:08

I like it too.

I always find that after a cut it takes a couple of washes for my hair to style better into the new cut. I'd wash a dry it a few times before making any decisions.

And it never looks as nice as yours!

Imo no, you’re already unhappy with what she’s done, so I wouldn’t recommend availing yourself to round 2. I don’t think you’ll be happier walking out with it even shorter, anyway.

Just concentrate on looking after it so it will grow healthily. Use hair masks and good quality heat protection products. You can always (sparingly) use clip ins while it grows if you want to.
