My daughter just got charged on her zip card for a journey she didn't make, she tapped into the station, went to the platform and while she was waiting they cancelled her train, she therefore left the station to get the bus as was going to be a long wait. She got charged on tapping out.
It was not obvious how to claim a refund on the zip card website so I rang up. After waiting on hold for 10 mins I spoke to someone who then took 5 mins to process the refund, but he said she has to make a journey to activate the refund and it will only be valid for 4 days. I said what if she doesn't make a journey in next 4 days (it is half term and there is an inset day on Monday so she isn't travelling to school). He said the refund will expire and I have to ring them up again. He said she should just get on the bus tomorrow tap it on and then get off.
AIBU to think this is RIDICULOUS. She did nothing wrong, tapped in and out of same station due to a valid reason...train being cancelled, they have taken money and don't have a means of refunding it back to her in a straightforward manner....just feel quite cross about this, it feels like theft (I know probably being OTT but this isn't right).
