To be putting off getting braces because I'm worried about the effect on my sex life?

Not the aesthetics, the functional impact given the central role of mouths.

The teeth are pretty bad but on the other hand the ortho said I would end up with a flatter face so maybe it's better just to have wonky teeth.

I think if your teeth are pretty bad, you should get them fixed if you can afford it.

I've got overcrowding on my bottom row and want them fixed but whew it's pricey

Yeah it's a lot of cash to end up with a slightly worse face! Wish that dental science would come up with a better alt.

I had braces when I got together with dh many years ago. Didn't seem to put him off!

Could you get away with invisalign depending on the issue. Then you can take them out at “key moments”

Unfortunately I've been told I'm too complex for Invisalign. Had really wanted it!

The braces will only be on for a while, I had them a long time ago and it didn't stop me from dating.
I understand you may be self conscious but think about how good you will feel with a lovely smile afterwards.

I think teeth are quite an important part of someone's appearance people look massively better with nice straight teeth. I'd go ahead and get the braces it's only for a year or 2. I refused braces many years ago as a teen to straighten my bottom teeth but I really wish I'd have had them now.

I had train track braces in my 30s, best thing I ever did and never caused any problems for DH.

I havebeen told by a few people that they are surprised I've seen an ortho because they didn't think my teeth were bad. So (I hope) the way i talk etc conceals the worst of it. But then maybe this also means my braces won't be too obvious...

You won't regret getting them. I had braces in my 20's and I've now enoyed years of perfectly straight teeth, it's so worth it for the amount of time they were on. Just do it.

And I grew up in the 1970s, my teeth are probably like yours - fine.

My son's though... Bloody hell, if I could have his glorious teeth, and also his perfect bite - rather than my bite where only my back teeth meet. Great to ensure my three veneers have very little pressure on them, but otherwise not good.

I actually think braces look great. I had them as a teenager and mine are quite nice now, but if I needed them again I wouldn't hesitate.

Whether they fit into my sex life or not would be the last thing on my mind.

I had braces when I met my DH - it didn’t affect anything relationship-wise.
