Huge patch of skin just fell off my foot

I bought some new shoes recently and have been wearing them in. It’s been quite painful and two days ago I took off the shoes and on my right foot there was like a big hard wrinkle of skin running all the way across the back of my foot. It was as if the skin had been peeled back.

I donned a big plaster again today and all felt fine. Had a late bath before bed and realised I’d forgotten to take the plaster off the back of my foot. Peeled it off whilst in the water and then felt something else peeling off underneath. I thought I must have left an old plaster on underneath the new one - not something I’ve done before but it seemed like the only explanation. Peeled it off and placed it on the side of the bath with the first plaster.

Turned the light up after my bath and realised the second “plaster” I’d put on the side of the bath was in fact a huge flap of skin, about 6cm wide by 5cm long!

Posting to ask if anyone else has had this and also, WTAF!

Am I going to have a really sore back of my foot tomorrow?

Pic or it didn’t happen…

JustJoinedRightNow · 23/05/2023 23:07

Omg I literally was about to write the same thing - pic or it didn’t happen!!! I need to see this skin patch.

Mumzoo5070 · 23/05/2023 23:08

Pic please

JustJoinedRightNow · 23/05/2023 23:08

And not necessarily a sore foot tomorrow - if it was hardened skin that came off the skin underneath might be alright. If it was normal skin and you’ve peeled skin off the top and left like a wound then yes, sore foot

Pennyplant19 · 23/05/2023 23:09

Following for picture.....

NCgoingdry · 23/05/2023 23:13

Yeah sorry but we need to see it.

BlackeyedSusan · 23/05/2023 23:13

Top of a popped blister?

Circumferences · 23/05/2023 23:18

Yeah this is a forum of mainly women. We've all had a shoe blister it's not an unusual event.

Angelwearsdior · 23/05/2023 23:25

We need to see

Babyroobs · 23/05/2023 23:26

So we are talking about a blister?

squidgybits · 23/05/2023 23:34

It's been a blister

StuffLoriThangs · 23/05/2023 23:35

Just a big blister/worn skin. It’s your foots
way of protecting itself.

Tofuislovely · 23/05/2023 23:39

Poor DS had this a couple of years ago. Yes, it was sore for a week or two. We put gauze over it to cushion it for the first few days. Hope you feel better soon.

steff13 · 23/05/2023 23:40

Yeah it sounds like you had a blister that popped in the dead skin on the top fell off. Blisters can be really common when you're breaking a new shoes.

Moopsi · 23/05/2023 23:40

Which part of your foot is the "back"? The heel?

CheeseTouch · 23/05/2023 23:40

Compeed plasters are your friend.

MyNewWittyUserName · 23/05/2023 23:57

So we are talking about a blister?

Lol 😂 OPs feet have lived a sheltered life.

RicherThanYews · 24/05/2023 00:03

I won't lie, that's going to sting for a good 48 hours if the skin underneath is red raw. It gets better after that. I don't even know if Dr Numb or similar can be used on broken skin like that.

Momtotwokids · 24/05/2023 01:58

I was really hoping for a picture.

Confusedmeanderings · 24/05/2023 02:05

When I had chemo, the entire soles of my feet peeled away. It was kind of revolting and fascinating at the same time! My breast care nurse told me to use udder cream on it. Didn't stop it happening several times though!

KaleFairy · 24/05/2023 02:23

I do the babyfoot treatments and I live for the enormous peels of skin that come off! The skin underneath is so fresh!

FeigningConcern · 24/05/2023 02:53

I had this. I ran in the rain very briefly in some very unsuitable flip flop type shoes and a bit of grit caught under my heel. I was trying to get out the rain so I left it caught until I could stop somewhere dry. It wasn't that far at all a few hundred metres max if that.

A blister developed over the heel of my foot. Didn't hurt. Just looked a bit weird.

A few weeks later I was playing rounders in the park with LOADS of work friends and the heel of my foot basically came off while I was running and was flapping around. It was 🤮 but also really satisfying! It was a huge piece of thick dead skin the size of my heel!

HisOliveTree · 24/05/2023 02:56

It's just a blister, not sure how people can get to adulthood not knowing this Grin Stick a compeed plaster on it and all will be well.
