Is it unreasonable of me to give up on my local pharmacy? While I understand that pharmacies have been under pressure for some time, I find the prolonged wait and outdated service very frustrating. Every time I visit to pick up my prescription, I wait an average of 25 minutes, despite calling beforehand and being reassured that it would be ready for me to collect.
Over the years, nothing has changed. Everyone queues up, a staff member takes down my name and address, spends about 5 minutes trying to locate the prescription, then passes it behind the desk and asks me to wait. It's absurd!
Pharmacies now have the capability to access prescriptions digitally from GP surgeries, so why can't the collection process be simplified? Surely, many customers would be happy to call ahead, arrive at a designated time to confirm their details, and pick up their prescriptions at their convenience. Those who prefer not to can still show up without an appointment
