Those two words are everywhere in the papers I’m the news everywhere. Don’t you just wish people would stop going on and on about it and just live and let live like my generation did. I’m 48 btw generation X if you like.
We didn’t give a fick an just saw people as people. If you’re white, Welsh, black, Irish, Ginger brown or blue with polka dots get on with it ffs.
Plus all this shit of putting obia at the end of something you might not understand or agree with it’s not a fucking phobia because a phobia is an irrational fear of a thing.
Plus putting “gate” at the end of everything that happens, how boring I was 2 when Watergate came about I’m fucking 48.
Then there’s this shit of he or she has broken their silence, have they fuck, when did any of these non-entities take a vow of silence that they’ve had to break?
Enough already is it only me or does this ridiculum piss anyone else off?

It’s what passes for journalism these days.

I just broke my silence to issue that statement 😉

Vegalam · 22/05/2023 21:10

But generations prior have given a fuck. In the sense that there was (still is, but to a lesser degree) systemic racism and rampant sexism. If everyone thought their generation was so great nothing would ever change. Women would not have the vote etc etc.

Of course the pendulum can always swing too far the other way, but for the most part with each generation comes progress.

Beezknees · 22/05/2023 21:16

You might just see people as people, but not everyone does. Yesterday some football fans were making monkey noises at a black player on the pitch. Pretending racism doesn't exist doesn't do anyone any favours.

BennyBlancofromtheBronx · 22/05/2023 21:21

I'm more or less the same age as you and to say that people didn't care about skin colour and "live and let live" was utterly fucking bollocks then and still is.

Bringabrolly · 22/05/2023 21:22

Rascism is horrendous. A lot of what’s labelled ‘transphobia’ is just reasonable people refusing to pander to sleazy men who like attention and dressing as women. I feel sorry for those true trans people who just want to quietly get on with their lives and must abhor what these ‘activists’ do in their name.

PinkFrogss · 22/05/2023 21:26

I think the amount of racism both then and now proves people didn’t just see “people as people” and were colourblind.

Or how else do you explain all the racism Confused

PinkFrogss · 22/05/2023 21:27

Although of course you’re just trying to be goady and get people worked up about how it’s political correctness gorn mad and [instert story here about ba ba rainbow sheep and Wintermas instead of ba ba black sheep and Christmas]

BewareTheBeardedDragon · 22/05/2023 21:28

Gosh - you really think there was no racism
In the 80s ConfusedConfusedConfused
Come on

Cnidarian · 22/05/2023 21:32

No racism or discrimination in the 80s?!! You've led a sheltered life!

lookingforMolly · 22/05/2023 21:33

Well I disagree OP, lots of people see colour, as my mixed race sister found out last year when she was at the beach and told to 'go home' by some twat and he didn't mean her flat.

AnAngelAtMyTableWithMe · 22/05/2023 21:34

no racism in the 80's... ummmm no that really is not accurate, are u talking about uk? cos there definitely was!

ThereIbledit · 22/05/2023 21:47

We didn’t give a fick an just saw people as people. If you’re white, Welsh, black, Irish, Ginger brown or blue with polka dots get on with it ffs.

I mean, that's definitely not true, but sure, go ahead and enjoy your cozy bubble.
