To think she was out of line?

Work in a nursery. Today, I briefly sat down and spoke to my colleague who was busy filling out a form. Another colleague came in and said sarcastically ' Great interaction with the kids here.' I am pissed off. I literally sat down for 2 minutes. Feel annoyed at myself for not saying anything back to her.

Why are you cross with her comment, she didn't know you had just sat down and so from her point of view the comment was entirely justified, not sure what you would have responded with as she was right. Neither of you were interacting with the children. Presumably the form your colleague was filling out was necessary but it wasn't necessary for you to be sitting next to her having a chat.

Have you worked in nurseries long? Bitchiness is common unfortunately. She is technically right but there's no need to be rude.

You need to stick up for yourself. I'd have said "excuse me I've only just sat here". People used to upset me and I'd go home and think it over in my head and get upset. Now I've got older I speak my mind. Put people in their place. Shame the devil so to speak

I literally had just sat down, that is what irritated me. I am allowed to sit after being on on feet for literally hours. If she had walked in just 2 minutes before, she would have seen me interacting with the kids.
She isn't management or anything like that either and so it wasn't her place to say anything. Find it hypocritical also as I have seen her chatting away to colleagues in her room and ignoring the kids so unreal really that she is commenting on ours.

Nurseries can be a real bitch fest. All those women working together, that's without the micro managing and lots thinking they are the boss. People have so much front these days

Fedup88 · 19/05/2023 09:05

Agreed. I am looking to get out of it all. So bitchy it's untrue.
