To stay in - cold sores?

I’m about to start my new job and have broken out with the most horrific coldsore attack of my life. I have 3, it’s swollen and sore and I can barely eat/drink.

I have stayed in for the past few days now, not left the house at all apart from to go in the shade in the garden for some fresh air. I wanted to try and rest as much as possible, stay out the sun and get better before I start my new role.

My partner seems a bit miffed that I’ve not left the house. I haven’t done any food shopping etc and he’s really busy with work. I get it’s frustrating but I really want to get better ASAP!

AIBU to be a bit upset at this? Or should I be going out and getting on with things? Having cold sores is just so miserable and I look awful. Literally like I’ve been punched in the mouth. I’m just not in the mood to see people!

You do you OP. If you don’t want to go out and you just want to rest, then do that. It’s awful feeling a mess - and I believe cold sore breakouts tend to be linked to when you’re run down or have a bit of a cold or stress on you, so makes sense to rest to recover.

However, sometimes I do think you can easily get yourself into a bit of a rut. Maybe have a think about something you would enjoy doing, something that would help to make you feel relaxed - even if it’s just nipping to the shops to buy yourself a treat or doing your nails or something.

Take it easy and be kind to yourself. Good luck in your new role!
