It isn't clear from this, is it?

Does anyone know?

It doesn’t say either way, so I would assume you have to pay for returns. If they were free, they’d be shouting about it. Process also sounds fairly arduous, having to take photos before they decide to give you the return information. What site is it?

LookOutBandits · 16/05/2023 22:43

Usually it's quite specific if you have to pay.

inamarina · 16/05/2023 22:45

It’s not clear, but I think they would advertise it if they did offer free returns, so I assume they don’t.

LookOutBandits · 16/05/2023 22:46

I've been on the website now and it says the customer has to pay.

Is that the website mentioned in the OP?
I’m just wondering because as far as I know the customer has the right to return items purchased online within two weeks without any explanation/ photos. Maybe it’s different for swimwear?

Well yes, it wouldn't be much help if it was the returns policy of another company! Grin

There is no law for swimwear.

Precipice · 16/05/2023 23:10

Doubtful, but I wouldn't order from anywhere with such a cumbersome returns process.

The specific issue of swimwear aside, I've seen this for some retailers selling general clothes. It's just making returns more difficult or suggesting that it's not going to be possible, suggesting that they're not complying with the law on distance purchasing.

cocksstrideintheevening · 16/05/2023 23:14

The website screenshots look dreadful, I've just googled and the reviews back up that theory. I wouldn't touch them.

They have the right to return it but not the right to return it free of postage costs

Radi0Wales · 17/05/2023 06:27

Okay thanks. I'm going to give them a miss!

From CAB

If you paid for standard delivery when you bought something, the seller has to refund this if you return it. If you chose a more expensive delivery option, you'll have to pay the difference.

https://www.citizensadvice.org.uk/consumer/changed-your-mind/changing-your-mind-about-something-youve-bought/

That is incorrect. Only if the item is faulty.

Singinghollybob · 17/05/2023 10:17

@sillyonehetpes so is the CAB advice wrong in that link?

LookOutBandits · 17/05/2023 10:22

It does say that on the link.

It also says

You may have to pay the cost of posting something back to the seller. The seller should have told you who has to pay for this when you bought the item. For example, it could have been in the terms and conditions. If they didn’t tell you, they will have to refund your postage costs.

So I don't know what it means now!

Erm, I think free returns are the least of your problems. The website is a scam. Whenever you see a site like this, you’ll get used to recognizing them by the way they name their products (too many descriptors but no product names), price too low, always that same font, and then you realize… the photos may be are taken from some other website that REALLY sells the object in question and who even knows what you’d get if you ordered. Example.

Here’s a version of the swimsuit from an Australian company and it’s sold out. Before it was sold out, it was originally AUS$190 (£100) and on sale for AUS$113 (£60). And I admit that I don’t know if this website is great either, but it’s older than SeaFancy and judged “probably safe” by ScamAdviser.
https://www.rey-swimwear-au.com/products/sofia-in-stripe?

How amazing that this site somehow claims to have the suit for £31.99, never calls it the Sofia, etc.
https://www.seafancy.co.uk/category/one-pieces/product/white-stripes-scoop-neck-wide-straps-backless-ties-back-one-piece-swimsuit

And the site is definitely NOT judged safe by ScamAdviser. The internet is riddled with tales of people who were given a US address and then discovered they had to pay £35 to actually return it to China, more than most of their products are worth. There are a bunch of horror stories in this page:
https://www.scamadviser.com/check-website/seafancy.co.uk

So just be aware. If they’re not clear about returns BEFORE you buy, don’t ever ever ever buy. They may be covering up the fact that returns would cost you more than the product, so you’d feel you have to give up.

I’ve just had to take photos and attach them to an email, after I ordered a dress and was sent a pair of jeans instead.
