WhatsApp scam?

Sweetus · 14/05/2023 09:52

I recently saw that my partner had blocked 3 numbers on WhatsApp. 2 pictures were the same person, and one was a different woman. All British numbers. They were either Korean or Hong Kong ladies. He says they had tried calling him, so he blocked them and deleted the call history? Is this a potential scam?
For some background information, I previously caught him watching raunchy videos of women of this ethnicity, so I know he likes this type of woman. He says I'm being paranoid.

Yes I’m getting loads as well usually starts with “hi friend” I just block them

Yes there are ALOT of WhatsApp scams about. I think if you reply to even one saying wrong number or something they flag it as an active cell and pass on that number to other scammers. Then you get inundated!

Sometimes they have very big muscles 💪 /sometimes women snd recently they are recruiters looking for my cv

I have had this happen to me; three calls on WhatsApp in quick succession, each only ringing once. In my call history, each has a photo of a female and the number appears to be foreign. This has happened several times now, each time with a different picture and number - I have blocked them all.

Why are you checking his phone and looking at his call history and blocked numbers on WhatsApp?

It was wrong of me to check, I know that. There are trust issues, and I'm also aware that it isn't healthy. But there have been issues in the past with lies and deceitful behaviour, and something he said recently made me have some doubts. I'm hoping it's just a scam, and since it's happening to a lot of people, it more than likely is. He's left his phone at home while he's gone to work, I didn't ask him to do that. I'm not going to look at it again, though.

I'm sure it is a scam and it sounds like in this case, he is trying to prove to you that he has nothing to hide.

Hopefully you can get through this and get your relationship back on track xx

My husband got one the other day and I was sat with him. 100% a scam as he googled it at the time

The situation does raise concerns, but it's essential to have an open conversation with your partner. Addressing the issue calmly and understanding each other's perspective can help dispel any misunderstandings and determine whether there's any cause for genuine concern. 🤝
