Help! Curly hair, how to make it straight?

does anyone have any experience or knowledge with good hair products to make curly, frizzy hair straighter and more manageable?? My hair is the curly/frizzy/beachwaves type and I really dislike it but it’s already damaged and I don’t want to make it worse by always straightening it but realistically is there any other way to make it straighter and or smoother? I’ve tried keratin treatments to make it smoother but it make no difference at all, I’ve seen things about Brazilian blowdrys but wasn’t sure if it was worth it? Or any other type of treatment or product?if anyone has any experience or knowledge i would be most grateful! TIA!

Just for the record, there’s absolutely nothing wrong with curly hair, I just dislike mine. Please no one tell me to do curly girl or to keep my curls, I’m just looking for advice on straightening and smoothing my hair.

A Brazilian Blow Dry / Keratin treatment.

You can do at home with a kit or go to a hairdresser. I do mine at home. It’s brilliant.

Another curly wurly here and snother recommendation for a Brazillian blowdry. @Merryoldgoat what products do you use to do it at home? I rarely have time to go to the hairdressers. Would love to do it myself.

As a warning, I had a Brazilian/Keratin blowdry, and the only difference it made was to make my curly hair ‘softer’ and less able to keep a blowdry. Worse rather than better. It doesn’t always work.

Try Kativa keratin treatment. It's only about a tenner and even gets afro hair into a very loose curl.

It's the proper stuff, no fannying about.

FuoriComeUnBalcone · 12/05/2023 23:15

By the way, Kativa is not just a treatment you leave in, it's a proper Brazilian blowout that you have to blowdry and straighten in yourself.

I straighten my roots and then recurl my curls with a curling wand. It leaves me with smooth curls / waves and no frizz. I wash my hair every 4-5 days so I only have to do it 1-2 times a week and takes my 20 mins to do (I've got much quicker over time). I use satin hair bands at night to keep the hair nice and then use a wide tooth comb the next day.

@Tailfeather

i use this. I’ll try to doctor some pics to show the results.

I had brazilian blow dries & straight hair for about five years - then encountered a hairdresser who didn't have a clue what she was doing and basically fried my hair, which took forever to grow out - so make sure you find a hairdresser that is really familiar with the process.

I get mine chemically straightened (Japanese method). It's the only thing that works for my frizzy curly miserable hair.

Merryoldgoat · 12/05/2023 23:39

This is an idea of before and immediately after.

Left naturally I end up with a non-frizzy wave
