Singing LOUDLY on some sort on karaoke machine?

I've googled it and apparently it's "reasonable" to make noise before 11pm but that seems late!

It's midweek and we have work / school tomorrow.

we haven't lived here long and they're usually quiet (minus the odd blip) but every night this week they've gone on past 10 with music and weather it's a "reasonable" time or not I don't want to hear their screeching when I'm trying to unwind with a book.

I am a bit nervous to knock though as I've never really met them but I don't know what else to do!

What do they say when you ask them if they can keep the noise down a bit?

isitlate · 11/05/2023 22:00

I've not been as I'm a bit nervous as I don't know how it will go down

I just don't know if I am being U to actually go round at this time as technically they're doing nothing wrong for another hour?

I can hear it word for word it's so loud and driving me insane. They SURELY can't think it wouldn't be heard next door at that level...

Maybe it's a new birthday present and novelty will wear off in a few days ? Fingers crossed

isitlate · 11/05/2023 22:26

I went round! No apologies but she said she would turn it down at least.... fingers crossed!

Legally they aren't doing anything wrong, but it's late enough at night for their behaviour to be somewhat unneighbourly. Chances are they're just being a bit thoughtless and haven't realised how loud they're being. Nothing wrong with politely asking them if they can keep the volume down a bit as the kids/you are trying to get to sleep.

It sounds like they are at least the considerate type if she’s said they will turn it down. It would make me nervous for summer & the longer, warmer days though if they are being noisy now!

This is my concern too. She looked very drunk so I'm hoping it's a birthday or some special occasion. Although that's the third night this week (though first with karaoke!!)
