The ones at face height, filming your face… not even the items you are scanning. Just a screen, as a deterrent, of your tired face and messy hair to affront you. Pop in to the co-op tired and get treated to a close up of your bad skin and hair like a horror selfie for everyone around to see magnified above your head on a screen.
I don’t mind the ones like our Morrisons have, that film the items being scanned, or general unobtrusive cctv but the ones with face level cameras and a screen are just awful. I’m contracting to buy milk, not provide close-up recordings of me looking rough for a retailer who doesn’t even state what they do with the recordings. Delete them in the evenings? Keep?
Does anyone else find them a step too far? I’ve started standing to the side of the till in our co-op to scan. It’s just a bit much, on top of the fact good staff have been replaced by queues whilst untrained members of the public try to navigate tills that Mis-weigh all the time or make you wait for the only worker to verify you are an adult whilst they try to deal with 10 tills at once.
