Saying he’s going to the shop, coming home smelling of booze

Dh said before he was nipping to the shop, he came back around an hour later and his breath smelt of beer. We live abroad and lots of open air cafes nearby by the beach. Would you find this weird or ok?

Did he get what he was supposed to from the shop?
If yes then he just stopped off for a pint on the way back and that is ok.
If he nipped out for a pint and pretended he was going to the shop - not ok.

Well he presumably had a beer or two on the way there/back. It’s not weird. Whether it’s ok or not probably depends on the rest of your relationship. Wouldn’t bother me on the face of it, no.

What is your concern - you have posted about it so it has obviously piqued your interest for some reason

Thedogwantswalking · 07/05/2023 15:01

I’m wondering why he wouldn’t say, also is it a bit weird just drinking on his own?

He did get what he said he was going for

A drink sat by the beach in peace sounds lovely. How about you go for one yourself now! 😉

NurseCranesRolodex · 07/05/2023 15:02

Sorry, I'm not understanding the issue. Are you worried about his drinking at the moment in general, if so then I'd see the issue. Sounds like he could have gone to shop and stopped for a beer. Maybe you are concerned about him seemingly concealing it by not mentioning, just ask.

Thedogwantswalking · 07/05/2023 15:04

@NurseCranesRolodex Yes, I think it was him not saying? I asked where he went and he just said ‘The shop now mention of it

I don't think it's weird unless it's something he does regularly and you weren't immediately desperate for the thing he went to the shop for - he might have just fancied a beer or two by the sea if it was a nice day, bit of time by himself. Sounds nice! :)

We used to live 'in the sun' I often popped into town for something and ended up having a drink alone on the beach..it was bliss..not sure what the problem is unless there's much more to it you haven't said.

Thedogwantswalking · 07/05/2023 15:11

There’s no problem with it at all, but I wonder why he didn’t say

His going to the shop is obviously his version of 'going to see a man about a dog' Grin
