My flat stinks of cannabis, AIBU?

I don't have a problem with cannabis. I don't judge anybody who uses it. I used it myself in my late teens / early 20's.. but it really does stink. We can all agree on that.

I live in a small block and I'm new to the area. I don't want to make a bad impression or rub anybody up the wrong way but my flat absolutely stinks of weed. I can't be certain which neighbour is smoking it, it's either next door / down below or both.

It's worse when my kitchen window is open so it may be downstairs smoking it in their kitchen, but the smell is often there whether I have the windows open or not.

The neighbours seem nice and normal enough, not the sort to start a fight if you mention it, but I don't want to take it up with the wrong person

How would you go about it?

Would a friendly note in the communal area be acceptable? Do you think IBU?

I'd ask managing agents/landlords to put the note up (or through the letter boxes) so it's not directly from you.

I've seen notice boards in communal areas with anti-smoking, anti-late night loitering reminders.

I feel for you if nothing can be done though....

Personally, I would move. This sort of thing triggers major anxiety for me and I would be really worried if people found out it was me who complained, especially as the newbie.

I hate the smell, yanbu to not want your flat to stink and yanbu to attempt to stop it but I am a scaredy cat 🤣

I got the property management details so I'm going to send an email. They shouldn't say who the complaint has come from should they? It'll probably be obvious though 🙈
