to get rid of the clothes ?

Recently had an audit of my clothes. I have sorted a mix of clothes that:

  1. I don't like - they will def go to the charity shop
  2. I really like but no longer fit. Last worn around 3 years ago. Will I ever realistically get back into these ? should I get rid ?
  3. A few sporty things that were brought for me 2 years ago and have never been worn as they never fitted at the time. I doubt if the person who brought these for me will never know if I got rid.

I am a yo yo dieter and always looking to lose weight and fit into my old clothes. I think I sentimentally hang on to my old things which fitted when I was a lot slimmer than I am now. I would love to be that slim again but it would take a hell of a lot of work to get to that size again.

Thoughts on just getting rid of the lot ? it would basically mean me literally emptying my chest of drawers.

If you don't want to permanently change your diet so that it is healthier and more balanced then I would crack on and get rid of all of the smaller clothes. There's no point in holding on to clothes that make you feel like crap as they'll never fit.

Give up on fad diets! They're no good for you physically or mentally.

If you were an unsustainable size when you were thinner, then yes get rid of the clothes.

If you lose that weight you WILL celebrate with new purchases.

I vote make space in your life & get rid of all of it.

Keep the clothes you love, get rid of the rest.
When you’re an old lady and you get skinny you’ll be able to wear them all again. Put them in a suitcase in the attic so they’re not taunting you.

Just keep the clothes that fit and you like for now. If you want to lose weight enough you will do it and if/when that time comes you will want to buy new clothes.

I had a similar situation recently, and decided to get rid. Lots of beautiful dresses etc that are just too small for me at the moment. Decided that even if i lost the weight, the styles might not be in fashion, look dated sp might not wear anyway.

And means i can go shopping for a whole new wardrobe if/when i lose the weight...!

Half way through a declutter myself. I went through a phase of buying lots of different outfits, but now I am not interested in fashion so much. I have taken several bags to charity shops, but must venture into wardrobes to cut down further. I think when you have too many outfits, whether they fit or not, then they just obstruct you if you are trying to get ready to go out. It becomes frustrating to have too much choice. Can I suggest you try everything on in a long mirror, and then decide to keep or dump. If it is too small, get rid. If it doesn't suit you, get rid. Then you can focus on making the best of what clothing remains.
