Minus on a GoHenry Parent account

ItsBritneyBitchhhh · 04/05/2023 21:16

Sorry just posting here for traffic.

I opened the GoHenry app to transfer money into the parent account for my little sister and it says -£24.02. It also says, ‘You will need to top up your parent account to pay the next allowance to X’

Just wondered if anyone else has had this before? I always pay the £3.49 charge for the account as it comes out of my Natwest account so no clue what this is?

I had issues with go Henry after birthday money wasn't paid on time. They paid the money and then my account was showing -£96!! It was like that for 6 weeks and then reduced but was still showing a - figure.

I contacted them a number of times and they promised to sort it but didn't.

I closed the account and moved to HyperJar.

I had this problem a few months ago - suddenly showed negative balances and negatives throughout the transaction history. I emailed them a complaint and they fixed it all after a few days, but did fuck all to reassure me that they know what happened and that it won’t happen again.

How ridiculous! How do you find HyperJar? I’ve never heard of it. Does it still have a monthly charge to have the account open?

Wtf! So you had to complain for them to fix it?! Was your child still able to use their own card whilst it showed a minus on the parent account?

No, my son couldn’t use his card and it wouldn’t pay his allowance from the parent account to child account because of lack of funds until they fixed it (both were showing negative balances I think). Then they emailed me 3 days in a row to confirm receipt of service charges of £3.49 a pop - I think it turned out those hadn’t actually been taken from my bank account and had been automatically generated by mistake.

I emailed them on 11 Feb to complain . Got a reply on 22 Feb to confirm they’d fixed the balances and refunded one service fee to apologise. They wrote on 22 Feb, “We have a team who are working to ensure these issues do not happen again.” 🙄

@ItsBritneyBitchhhh - I've literally just started using HyperJar and it seems fine so far. It's free too!
I didn't mind paying the service charge for go Henry but then when my account was wrong for so long and I couldn't use it and they were still charging me??

ItsBritneyBitchhhh · 05/05/2023 18:15

Thanks for the comments guys!

I called GoHenry first thing today at half 8. They said it was a mistake on the system as they can see that I do have money on the parent account. The woman said that someone will have a look into it and email me once it’s been fixed.

I also had two charges of £3.49 come out of my Natwest account this month so she refunded me for both charges. She’s also added one month free so that I won’t be charged whilst the account is in minus.

Sounds like I had a helpful person this morning!

Go Henry said it could be used to pay in wages. It couldn’t. Could be used on busses. Nope. Could accept money from other people paying into it. Also no. Huge fees for basically no service. Honestly, they are a nightmare.

We use hyperjar too, which is free.

It really is quite useless tbh🫣
