Are shops open as normal this Saturday? (Coronation Day)

Am I right in thinking shops and town centre amenities will be open as normal on Saturday?

Yes shops will be open as it is a normal working Saturday.

A lot of places are closing or working reduced hours

Do you know which places are closing as I haven't heard of any major chains announcing this? Of course there may be independent shops who make the decision to shut but would be very surprised if any large retailers close on a non Bank Holiday.

It's a normal working day, but individual businesses may choose to modify their hours.

It hadn't occurred to me that the shops would close on Saturday until I saw it mentioned on here. Someone was likening it to the day of the Queen's funeral as in all shops would be closed.

But then I looked on the websites of a few supermarkets, only to see that they were open as normal on Saturday, and just had slightly shorter opening hours on Monday, as is usual on a BH.

Hope so. Wanting to go to IKEA after the coronation.

You'd be better off checking the details for the relevant shops - MN can't tell you what will be open on your local high street.

I don't know of any shops closing. We're even getting our bins collected on Saturday, as they're a day late due to the bank holiday, so even the council regard Saturday as a regular working day.
Buses will be doing a regular Saturday service (very early to late), not a Sunday service, which they do for bank holidays, so it is just a regular Saturday.
