To think ganache is the most delicious thing ever?

I have literally just discovered ganache. A colleague had it, recommended it so grabbed one in Sainsbury's and have been addicted since. Love salted caramel one!

Just grabbed a blondie one from Aldis tonight. I cannot get enough.

I think it's the most delicious little pudding ever to exist.

AIBU? And for other ganache lovers, any recommendations?

Yabu cheese is clearly far more delicious than crany upstart chocolate and cream thingy.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 03/05/2023 19:48

It is so easy to make too - pour near boiling double cream over chopped up chocolate - the same amount if each (ie. 100g of chocolate and 100ml of cream), and stir til the chocolate melts. When it’s cool, you have ganache.

White chocolate ganache, poured over fresh raspberries and then cooled is a delicious pudding.

And lemon posset or raspberry cranachan beat ganache too

Oysterbabe · 03/05/2023 19:49

I also came here to say you're wrong because the correct answer is cheese.

Little moons mochi ganache is incredible

Yabu. Halloumi fries and a chilli dipping sauce is the most delicious thing ever.

micpop · 03/05/2023 20:05

I could take or leave cheese to be honest

You are dead to me.

Isn't ganache just for putting in/on a cake? Or have they now started selling it as a pud in it's own right?

They have indeed started selling it in its own right.

I just had little moons for the first time and they were awful! Rubbery little buggers that are too big to eat whole and too elastic to bite or cut up with a spoon.
Was I eating them wrong?

TheChosenTwo · 03/05/2023 20:18

I was thinking the same @regenerista - I make ganache at home for icing cakes (and definitely leave more than enough in the bowl for eating 😂) but I’ve never seen it sold before!
lemon posset is one of my favourite desserts in the world! Equal to a cheeseboard and they are both beaten into second place by the holy grail - the tiramisu 🥰

Marigoldilock · 03/05/2023 20:21

I just had a tart filled with pistacchio cream and it was utterly stunning. I was weepy as I ate it.

Justcashnosweets · 03/05/2023 20:21

I recently made ganache for the first time, and I love it. On its own, on a cake, with fruit for dipping, I don't care. I'll have it any way it comes!

TheYearOfSmallThings · 03/05/2023 20:23

The first spoonful of ganache is delicious, but I find the texture quickly becomes samey, then claggy, then slightly sickening.

HaroldeVwilliam · 03/05/2023 20:24

@Marigoldilock could you share where you purchased this tear inducing cake

Coming on to ask same!

kdramaqueen · 03/05/2023 20:27

@Stripycatz try the ones from Aldi, they're the best for both texture and flavour. The chewy exterior is glutinous rice and ice cream filling (coconut is my fav) should be not be frozen too hard. Gone in 2 or 3 bites! A friend eats it a spoon but it's fingers for me.

Marigoldilock · 03/05/2023 20:30

Sorry guys, I live abroad and it came from a little bakery in my village. It was like a jam tart but with pistacchio cream instead of jam. You can buy jars of pistacchio cream where I live; not sure about the UK.
