To think I'm less likely to lose this baby if I have sore boobs?

I have literally just booked in for IVF and took a test yesterday that was positive.

The reason I took it is because my books were abnormally sore which never happened with previous pregnancies as three out of four of them were chemical so very faint line and early loss.

Not only that but both lines on the test were very very dark which I assume means hgc levels are high so less likely for a loss?

I've been lucky enough to not suffer a baby loss but with each of my 4 pregnancies my first symptom was super sore boobs. Like the next day! Fingers crossed it's a good sign for you.

Bosabosa · 01/05/2023 20:16

Agree that super sore boobs are a good sign! Mine were for weeks! Good luck OP

As someone who has had a few losses, I've got into a weird habit of squeezing my boobs to check they still hurt - as if that is confirmation that I'm still pregnant so everything is fine. I'm ignoring the fact that they probably just hurt from all the checking now anyway.

I didn't think sore boobs meant anything, I've got 4 healthy DC but only suffered sore boobs with the 3rd.
I do remember the early pregnancy worries tho, mine was that the line on the many many many pregnancy tests I took during my 3rd and 4th DC's pregnancies were barely visible right up to the 12 week mark!

Anecdotal but each time I had a healthy pregnancy (twice) my boobs were agony. Each time I had a 1st trimester miscarriage (also twice) I didn't have sore boobs at all. Hopefully it's a positive sign for you

LyndaSnellsSniff · 01/05/2023 20:55

In all my 5 pregnancies, I had sore boobs to begin with. I miscarried 2 before 12 weeks and in both those cases, my boobs were much less painful and the pain diminished over the weeks. With my viable pregnancies, they were mega sore and stayed sore until about 20 weeks.

I too would prod my boobs to check for pain.

I’m sorry for what you have been through and I hope all goes well this time. Honestly though, you can’t tell from symptoms alone.

DrMadelineMaxwell · 01/05/2023 20:58

I've had 3 losses and 2 successful pregnancies. The successful ones were the ones where I had really sore boobs from the start, and not noticeable for the other times. Good luck, I know it's stressful!

ivfregret · 01/05/2023 21:00

Thank you to you all, I have never had sore boobs before and I'm 1-2 weeks according to my tests so I am praying this means positive and sounds like it could be from your comments

I'm also taking progestrogrone pessaries too hopefully helps

4 losses here, all had slightly different symptoms. The one that got the furthest had severe boob pain. I could hardly drive.

Symptoms are no indication of anything.

I hope it sticks for you though op 🤞🙏

Sore boobs told me I was pregnant both times with my children before I tested. My chemical pregnancy, I didn't have sore boobs at all. I wasn't trying for dd2 (had actually taken the morning after pill) sore boobs a couple of weeks later, and then a positive test. She's now 5, beautiful, funny, and as stubborn as the day I conceived! Good luck op, fingers crossed for you x

VladimirVsVolodymyr · 01/05/2023 22:47

3 kids and 1 miscarriage and no sore boobs! Congratulations and best of luck.x

jaychops · 02/05/2023 00:26

Congratulations and good luck, it all sounds very promising!

I just wanted to say don't become focused on sore boobs being an indicator of success. I had miscarriages before and in between my 2 children, and for both the pain would fluctuate - some days sore, other days completely normal and pain free. I was obsessed and it really affected my mental health. All was fine 🙂

Partyandbullshit · 02/05/2023 00:29

Ah, bless you OP. Fingers crossed for you that this one sticks. Sore boobs every successful time here - many years on I still remember it vividly! Good luck to you.

JMSA · 02/05/2023 00:30

For me, it was the level of sickness that determined everything. Can't remember ever getting sore boobs ... other than the nipples when starting breastfeeding Shock
Very best wishes to you OP, and to all other pregnant Mumsnetters Flowers
