To ask if there's any dentists on here - I want to request antibiotics before a tooth extraction

I'm having a wisdom tooth taken out soon. I have a heart murmur, and my entire life I've been told if I ever need dental work I need to have prophylactic antibiotics. I've always taken good care of my teeth, never had any piercings etc because it was drilled into me when I was younger. However, I know the guidelines have now changed as when I mentioned it to my dentist they said it's no longer recommended, which I understand.

But prophylactic antibiotics have been shown to significantly reduce the risk of infective endocarditis, and having antibiotics would reduce the anxiety I feel about the extraction.

Does any dentist know if a patient's preference is taken into account for this?

I would want to contact your cardiology consultant for advice

The risk from anaphylactic shock from the high dose of antibiotics given for antibiotic cover is deemed to be a far greater risk than that of developing endocarditis, apart from a very few instances .
A dentist is not going to go against official guidelines, if something went wrong they would be deemed negligent. However if cardiologist advised they must or prescribed themselves that's a different matter.
It's no defence and not acceptable to prescribe antibiotics because of patient preference, antibiotic resistance is a major health crisis looming and doctors and dentist antibiotic prescribing patterns are audited stringently.
Indeed a dentist working under NHS is contractually obliged to work under nice guidelines https://www.dentalprotection.org/uk/articles/antibiotic-prophylaxis
