don’t know if i’m reading into this but i feel really flat about it. i had a zero hour contract, i don’t want to say nature of the job because i’m worried it’s outing but anyway. i went on mat leave a few months ago and was going to be returning in july but i’m picking up a vibe that they don’t want me to return. they’ve hired new staff, have been posting meet the team things on social media without me in it, boss mentioned there’s not really hours available, etc etc. i’m worried i go back to work and get no hours i just get the vibe i’m not welcome and i don’t really know why

Have you heard of kit days? Maybe ask them if they are a possibility, get your foot back in the door.

Vibe or not, the law is clear.

Read up on your rights and go in with confidence, as per the law. You've done nothing wrong and "feeling" doesn't come into it. It's a job, you wouldn't do it if they didn't pay you, right? You want the money?

Stop stressing and just make sure you're doing the right things at the right time re your return to work, from a legal perspective.

i’m a bit confused about the law to be honest because of it being a zero hour contract. i worked varied hours each week so am i still entitled to those or can they ‘let me come back’ and then just not give me shifts?

This happens often. All you need to do is return to work with confidence, be happy and healthy and - extremely efficient.

Before that, find out your legal position so you have that and see a clearer picture. Good luck.
