There was no room in the fridge. I ate it yesterday after it was out for 24 hours. Can I do it again today? Kitchen is chilly. It's been a cold couple of days. I thought it'd be OK but read lentils have the same type of bacteria that make pasta and rice dangerous if left out.

No I wouldn't and I'm pretty lax about this sort of stuff.

It would probably be OK seeing as your kitchen is "chilly" but I must admit I wouldn't fancy it.

It’s fine. If this were lethal then India wouldn’t have the world’s largest population! Just make sure it’s piping hot when you eat it.

Same with rice - if you drain it properly, it can be left out overnight provided you use it in a cooked dish the next day. Eg you can use it to bulk out breads, make congee, thicken soups etc.

Lentil curry can go bad quite quickly if left at room temperature. I would smell it first, it will have a sour smell if it has gone off (I'm south asian and eat a lot of lentil curries).

Hmm. Maybe I'll throw out. Annoyed at myself

Smell it, give it a good boil up, and see what you think. I’d probably try it.

I'd eat it. These things don't bother me.
