To ask how long people have waited for their mobility car?

Hi, my daughter uses a wheelchair. She was awarded a mobility car, it’s been ordered but some people are saying they’ve been waiting over a year for theirs.. Has anyone waited that long? Thanks x

I don't personally have one but my sister ordered her new one last month and they've told her the end of June hopefully someone with more knowledge will be along soon.

Yes I know someone that’s waiting for one - so far it’s been 12 months.

My mum ordered hers last July and it was meant to be here in December but hasn't turned up yet 🤦‍♀️

A lot of people waiting for a car have been on a long queue because they ordered when the chip shortage was at w high. People who have ordered since then are seeing smaller waits. That said it depends on the car you are going for. I do believe Nissan are one of the fastest for cars without any adaptations etc. some dealers do have stock of various cars. There are a couple of Facebook groups where dealers will post if they have stock cars (these are cancelled orders from people who have had w change in circumstances or got bored waiting and changed order)

If you are looking for a WAV you will probably have a longer wait, but not always.

Just to be clear the cars are standard dealer orders so there is no 'length for motability' wait; it's manufacturer times and they are all different.

Mine took nearly ten months from order to delivery, no adaptations.

Depends what’s been ordered a lot of dealers have long waits for models some over 12 months this applies to all orders no matter if ordered as a retail corporate or Motability customer
dealer should have given her an estimate at point of order
if not happy maybe look at swapping brand / model to a car with less of a wait
you can cancel a Motability order by speaking to dealer/Motability they will delete off system so she can place a new order id find another car prior to doing this though as if you cancel you will loose place in queue for this car should you decide to stay on with it
