To want to drop out of our life?

We are Brits but have lived in NZ for 10 years. Both have decent jobs, but our mortgage is about to more than double. I had my 50th recently and I'm wondering if my husband and I are the only ones who got to the mid-life stage and thought, 'I am just so sick of'....

Crappy bosses who couldn't manage their way out of a paper bag.
Working in organisation after organisation that is filled with the same old egos and silos.
Spending every weekend doing life admin or catching up on work.

So, do we sell everything up and go mortgage free in Oz, and just work the sort of jobs we need to do to pay the bills? Or do we stick with the slog and hope it's just a mid-life crisis? Kids (11 and 13) are fully on board with either option, as we talk with them about this sort of stuff. It will be the second time we've made a big move, and I'm aware that moving to another city in another country would just mean the same shit in a different place. However, the Sunshine Coast in Oz is looking mighty tempting right now. Anyone had any success with this kind of change of life pace?

Hi Op

I am just wondering if there is a way you could stay in Australia for a temporary while , for eg a month or so,?

So you can get a feel if this is the right thing for you to do long term,

There is a Australian mumsnet too

Just been on it briefly

Perhaps you could ask for people's experiences on there what is like to live in Australia 🇦🇺 ect,
Moving from a different country..

Also anything on YouTube that could be possible be of interest in regards of this idea,

Even Ted Talks on Internet

Allways enlightening thought provoking too

Best of Luck whatever you do

Rember you only live once

It's what you didn't do, but could have done,

Another words Regrets

People tendancy to think towards the end of their lives Op@Praguemum

Life is like an Adventure of sorts Anyway...

In my humble opinion

I would keep paying your mortgage, you will regret selling your house in future.

Maybe take more holidays and move job?

I guess the grass isn’t always greener, but if you’re all willing and able to relocate and be mortgage free, why wouldn’t you? Go for it! 🇦🇺

Who’s to say life in Aussie will be any easier? Just as pricey as NZ and I can’t imagine bosses will be any different.
