To ask to have my appt over the phone

trigger warning if you’re eating/don’t like talking about wounds

Hi all!
I suffer from Hidradenitis and at the minute I’m having a massive flare up! I have abscesses in my armpits what have all split open and one on the top of my thigh what’s burst but has left a 50p size hole where you can pretty much see inside my leg.
im in agony and can barely move. I have a hospital appointment with dermatology at 5.10- I don’t drive and will have to take my 7 year old on 2 busses with me. This in itself would be a challenge but the fact I can barely move and I’m in so much pain is just adding to it.

Aibu to call them this morning and ask if I can have my appt over the phone, can this be done or do I need to cancel? I could really do with some help as I’m back to work tomorrow and I’ve never experienced pain like it.

thank you x

Well it sounds like it definitely needs looking at so I would go, especially with the pain too. They won't be able to see or understand the extent over the phone.
It's best to go so they can help rather than cancel and it get worse

Do you not think you'd be best to be seen in person?
Could you get a taxi?
Friend, family, neighbour for a lift?

As a fellow HS sufferer i sympathise, although yours sounds worse than mine i know how bloody sore it can be Flowers
I would ask if a video call were possible so they can possibly assess, but the journey sounds unbearable.

Our local Facebook group has volunteers who will drive you to hospital and back for petrol cost.

I’d look and see if there’s anything like that. It sounds like you really need to see somebody,

As a fellow HS sufferer I would definitely suggest finding a way to get in. Do you have some dressings you could pop over the wounds for the journey so they don't rub? That's always been the worst bit for me! Hope you feel better soon
