My experience of other countries is not huge: I spent five years in NY in the early 80 when the city was emerging from bankruptcy, and apart from that, my experience is all tourism-based. From family experience, my sis has lived in Asia, the ME, Africa, Latin America and two European countries, all for at least two years at a time, with and before children.
