I want to work somewhere foody

I'm about to turn forty and I'm thinking of starting something new. I want to work somewhere which makes something food or something related to restaurants.

I work in admin but have also done a bit of high end Michelin starred hospitality, and this made me fall properly in love with great food and drink.

Aibu to do this soon? My DCs are getting older and maybe now is the time! If not U, then any ideas what I could do and how to do it would be an amazing bonus

Also, does anyone else feel like this? I am busy at work and work in a school so it does feel worthwhile, but I just love the idea of actually making or building something.

Hospitality is crying out for decent committed staff.

I went from front of house to general manager in less than three years via an apprenticeship.

There is nothing stopping you.

Oh I lost half my post!

You can do a specific chef apprenticeship, either by finding an employer or by going through a scheme and they find you a placement. It’s full pay, not the apprentice wage.

Im a huge fan of apprenticeships and about to do another one (degree level).

Do it!

Thanks. I love hospitality and it is honestly what I think is my true calling as ridiculous as that sounds 😂.

But, I really struggle to make the hours work with childcare and seeing my DH.

I have a degree, (unrelated to hospitality), so I wonder if there are schemes for something like hotel management 🤔
