To ask if your menstrual cycle changed when your daughter left home?

My teenage daughter has been travelling for 2 months now and this month my period is several days late. We are normally synced to start our period at the same time. Could her being away have screwed up my cycle?

Mine didn’t. However, none of us are on hormonal contraception which mimics having a menstrual cycle.

dementedpixie · 22/04/2023 23:50

I thought syncing was a myth

shonapop · 23/04/2023 10:00

No hormonal contraception here. Usually like clockwork.

The syncing thing is a myth, sad to say. I wish it wasn't!

Heroicallyfound · 23/04/2023 10:02

It could just be stress - if you’re worrying about her being away maybe? I’m pretty regular but stress can knock me out a couple of days.

CurlewKate · 23/04/2023 10:33

@shonapop Do a test. Just in case.

it is, there have been studies done to try and find this effect, no evidence was ever found , no "synching" occurs between menstruating women beyond what you would expect randomly

ThreeblackCats · 23/04/2023 10:35

It’s more likely you’re at the beginning of the menopause.

Seems a very strange thing to ask random strangers about.

CindersAgain · 23/04/2023 10:37

If syncing was a thing, then wouldn’t the whole female world be in sync?
People who live together and then people that they work with and then the people they live with and so on.

It does rather, doesn't it

AP5Diva · 23/04/2023 10:48

Yes, synching naturally is a myth. The only synching that happens is artificial and happens when women synch their birth control pill cycle.

What's so strange about asking this to a forum full of menstruating woman?

I do wonder about this too.
