To be unable to recognise self in photos

Just wondering if this is a thing. Saw a photo from 40 years ago and did not recognise myself or a close friend in our youth. Cant remember anything about the event, and had to ask who the people in the photo were. We look great but I don’t remember feeling that I looked so good..maybe that’s why? But generally these days I find it hard to put names to faces..is this the beginning of the end

It is a ‘thing’ - can’t remember the term for it but a couple of people in my family have this with regards to recognising themselves in photos. Hopefully another poster can give you the name for it
