To ask for help with passport (lost, expired and name change)

I cannot seem to find the answer to my question online.

My passport has been reported lost. It has also expired (not sure if this matters now it has been reported lost).

I am now applying for a new passport, which I don't think will be an issue, but I also need to change my name on it from when I got married several years ago.

I cannot seem to work out how to make the application and request the change of name at the same time. Will this take a lot longer? Or do I simply request the passport in my maiden name and then request the change of name separately?

I am hoping to travel soon so I realise I may be better off just applying for a passport and then requesting a change of name later. Presumably as long as I book flights in my maiden name then this would be fine.

I am aware of strikes and possible delays but I will request it and see what happens.

Just request the name change. The process will then throw up the rest.

Yeah request the name change, I had this and had to go to the pass port office so they could verify I was me. The woman behind the desk looked at me, looked at the photo and all was good. Came through the post shortly after.
