Do you believe dreams mean anything? Constantly dreaming about filthy toilets

As the title says, do you believe in dreams meaning something? Yet again I have just woken from a very vivid dream about a whole toilet block being not just blocked but absolutely covered in shit, walls, the loos, the floor covered in runny shit, absolutely stinking so strong that you feel like you've inhaled the smell. Now I've woken up from it I have an awful taste in my mouth & had to brush my teeth & feel like I can smell the stuff. In the beginning this dream was taking place in the toilet block in my old infants school of 50 years ago, now it's anywhere.
Tonight just before the filthy toilets scene I was defending a lady who I worked with from her abusive husband (she never even had an abusive husband to my knowledge) I actually went outside & started to physically fight him then we ended up snogging! Maybe I read mumsnet too much 😅 wish I could stop the shitted up loos bit from reoccurring though. Now I'm wide awake, hence my posting at 215am

Just last night I had a dream I was presenting a travel series in Italy with Nigella Lawson. Pretty sure it means I'm weird and nothing else.

I have this dreaming recurrently. There is usually one toilet less awful than the others but no privacy. I usually accept it’s an expression of anxiety

MsWhitworth · 17/04/2023 07:59

I really just think it means you need a wee

WordtoYoMumma · 17/04/2023 08:05

I frequently dream about toilets! I need the loo and there is something wrong with all the toilets - no door, rising water flooding, no actual toilet in the cubicle etc.
But I do also dream about actually weeing - into something that I am worried will overflow, or I just sit in a chair and wee and it feels like that's the right thing to do - and I haven't wet the bed since I was 7 😂

WolfFoxHare · 17/04/2023 08:09

Yeah, I often have toilet dreams. Either there’s no door on the cubicle or when I go in the cubicle, there’s no toilet in there, just a hole or an armchair, or no toilet paper or it’s clogged up. They’re alway pretty grim toilets too. I always wake up really needing to wee.

@Allthecatsandcosyblankets I often had dreams about either staying in massive houses belonging to family members or my own home expanding - except when it was mine, it was often slightly creepy attics or weird boarded up closets… now I dream we have to move out of our home into a smaller one and I’m wondering how we’ll fit in.

It means you need a wee 🤷‍♀️

"I often have dreams of trying to find a toilet but all the ones I can find are unusable - for me this is usually because they lack privacy"

I've had that exact same dream several times. Lock broken, door missing, massive gap at either the top or bottom etc. The strangest example was when the only toilet available was down steps into a basement, but sited just above and at one end of a sunken bath, full of water, so that if you were sitting on it, your feet and legs would be dangling in the bathwater. 😕 😅

UnctuousUnicorns · 17/04/2023 08:18

I see the unusable toilet dream is a recurrent theme!

That sounds similar to dreams I've had where I'm in a house (sometimes my own), and find mysterious hidden rooms that I didn't know about. Sometimes I have to crawl through a low "tunnel" to get to them. Often they are still decorated, bed linen on beds etc, looking still fresh although nobody has been in them for decades.

I thought I was the only one that had dirty toilet dreams. I go along the row of toilets and one has poo, one has blood, one is always flooded with pee. I came across a real life dirty toilet in a pub in Majorca. Took one look and thought fuck that, I can hold it in!

Rubyupbeat · 17/04/2023 08:36

@edenhills Yes, I dream of dirty toilets or ones that have no door and then wake, dying for a pee.

HappydaysArehere · 17/04/2023 08:49

searching and finding unusable toilets is definitely linked to my regular need for the toilet at night

edenhills · 17/04/2023 02:34

Yes usually toilet dreams mean you need to pee. The toilets are too filthy for you to use because your brain is making sure you don't wet the bed!

Yes this. I often have dreams where I'm searching for a toilet and when I find it it's unusable. Then I wake up and I'm desperate for a wee.

I wouldn't read any more into it than that.

OldTinHat · 17/04/2023 09:25

I also have this dream! I'm searching for a toilet or a shower and they're all filthy or don't lock or are full of people and have no privacy.

Sosbanfachtheresatellyinmybath · 17/04/2023 09:25

If I dream of toilets, I'm sat having a pee and it won't stop. There's people banging on the door for me to hurry up, but I keep peeing like a waterfall. I usually wake and go for a massive pee. Another one is searching for the toilet which seems miles away and I just sit on furniture or the carpet and pee because I can't make it 🤣
More recently in my dreams, I'm ooking everywhere for a friend of mine (she ended her life 14 years ago) I can hear her but can't find her. I have her ex boyfriend looking with me and I end up going for a run with her sister. She's really fast and I can't keep up. I wake up short of breath and have to use my inhaler.
