What sort of food would you expect to be served at a kids party 12.30 to 2.15pm?

All of the above. And a good party ring biscuit aswell.

Thanks all. I just wasn’t sure if I should do sandwcihes etc because it will be a late lunch and maybe just do crisps cakes and more picky bits. The party is a soft play party from 12.30 and the food wouldn’t be until the last part of the party at about 1.30. It’s a local venue so everyone knows it. I’m hoping everyone gives the kids a snack before the party to tide them over as kids general eat lunch earlier. I don’t think anyone would expect the food at the start of a party?

Also the venue don’t provide the food we have to bring it and there’s not facilities to heat anything up.

But the party is over the whole of lunchtime. They aren't going to have lunch beforehand. You need to provide lunch

I’m happy to provide lunch, I just wanted opinions as I don’t want to provide something that the kids don’t want.

If at a soft play you could make individual lunch boxes with sandwiches, crisps, a mini roll and some fruit/ cucumber?

coffeecupsandwaxmelts · 16/04/2023 16:40

Definitely lunch - sandwiches or cold pizza, crisps, cocktail sausages or mini sausage rolls, some cut up vegetables, birthday cake, party rings and squash/water to drink.

Ah yes they might make it easier as well to have it all just ready to go when we get there.

I think it was usual to have the activity and then food when mine were that age, sounds fine to me

Mustardandchickensandwiches · 16/04/2023 17:14

If the party is over a mealtime as this is, you need to provide lunch. I would not be feeding mine before a lunchtime party

Murdoch1949 · 17/04/2023 04:52

Take heated hot dogs in food flasks, then bung in small finger rolls. Could do the same with fish fingers.

QuickNameChangeForMeToday · 17/04/2023 05:29

I would go for boxes like this and fill them the morning before the party.

2 x 1/4 sandwiches (ham or cheese)
Strawberries
Cucumber sticks
Crisps
Freddo

Jugs of squash

Our last party I got little white paper takeaway bags really cheap from Amazon. When the parents RSVPd I asked what sandwich their child would like; cheese, ham or Jam. I popped a roll, bag of crisps, raisins and a chocolate bar in each bag and had a tray of carrots, pepper and cucumber. It was great and hardly any waste.

TeddyBeans · 17/04/2023 06:30

I've literally just done one of these and did individual lunch boxes with a mini cheese pizza, sausage/cheese and onion rolls, packet of quavers, packet of party rings and a mini roll in. Each kid had a fruit squash drink too and fruit/veg platters on the tables.

Did another snack table for the adults that stayed with crisps and cupcakes. It all seemed to go down well

Oysterbabe · 17/04/2023 07:50

My kids expect typical party food of pizza, sandwiches etc whether the party be 9am, 6pm or anything inbetween 😄

reluctantbrit · 17/04/2023 08:06

I wouldn't feed my child an early lunch when it goes to soft play, too dangerous.

If you can't heat any food than I would either see if you can order McD or pizza to be delivered or make lunch boxes and have extras like fruit, crisps, biscuits as well.
