To think if I haven't had my CT scan results that it meant the lung nodule hasn't grown

or has stayed the same? And I don't need a biopsy.

Had third ct scan on Easter Sunday. Told 2 weeks for results. Tomorrow is 1 week assume if bad they would have phoned me by now?

Sorry, no. If you've been told two weeks for results, you can't read anything into not having heard anything a week later.

JingleBellez · 13/04/2023 20:13

I also wondered if the junior Dr strike may mean it's longer.

Sorry no. General there is a multi team meetings that review these results and you tend not to hear till after this meeting. (In Ireland anyway)

JingleBellez · 13/04/2023 20:14

@KrisAkabusi you're right. I shouldn't jump the gun.

I think it's the same here. My late step dad had cancer and I know the MDT at the hospital is usually held on a Friday...

I can only go by my child who has had many many CT scans - if there's bad news then we always get phoned immediately (next day), but if it's good news then in general we don't hear til we're in clinic 6 - 8 weeks later. When there's bad news though they need surgery, so that might affect it. I hope it means good news though for you though!

JingleBellez · 13/04/2023 20:21

Last time was Christmas. It was bad news 19 days later I got a phone call asking me to come in. It had doubled in size. I don't want to be ill. I guess nobody does though...

PS hope your little one is ok xx

Thinking of you. My Dad has had lots of scans following bowel cancer diagnosis and the time lapse between scan and results has varied from a few days to weeks

JingleBellez · 13/04/2023 21:13

@youshouldnthaveasked that's very kind of you.

The report appears to be on medical records ie the numbers have increased, I can't read it. I just don't know. At least soon the waiting will be over.

Thank you for being kind x x I've 2 young kids. Eldest now adult. 2

I hope so much you get good news. I agree we can't know for sure but I think it can only be a positive thing that you haven't heard anything so far. Very very best of luck x

Mabelface · 14/04/2023 16:14

Chase it. Always went by no news is good news with the nhs. However, recent experience proved otherwise and now I wouldn't hesitate to chase, even daily.

Two weeks for CT results? That doesn’t sound right. I’ve never waited more than 24 hours here (not in the UK). I was taken to the hospital by ambulance on a Friday night earlier this year. Had a CT scan on arrival, by the time I was back in the bay in the emergency department the doctor had the results (massive bilateral pulmonary embolism) and I was in surgery about 20 minutes later. I didn’t have two weeks to wait for results.

Xrayvision · 16/04/2023 07:20

Having a CT scan as an emergency @TheAverageForumUser is very different to being an outpatient. No news is not necessarily good news I’m afraid @JingleBellez , there are huge shortages of Radiologists and reporting Radiographers in the UK (if that’s where you are)and it will depend on what pathway you are on, whether you are having treatment or have another appointment due. If you haven’t heard by two weeks then you can ask the PALS department to chase for your results. Good luck xx

Update: 2 weeks and 1 day - still no scan results or an appointment... I'm not holding out much hope tbh of either...

Two weeks really isn’t unusual @JingleBellez - but as I and other posters have said, you can chase the hospital for the results?

JingleBellez · 25/04/2023 14:28

I don't like bothering lung cancer nurses.
