DS was supposed to start nursery in November. We set up a tax-free childcare account ready for him to go; but DH was in an accident and we postponed his start date.
He was then due to start in January, and February, but due to various issues on the nurseries side, he hasn't yet.
They've just called and said they finally have his space all sorted; I'm confident all is resolved and happy for him to go - but they've also said that his account is now £4.8k in credit from tax-free childcare payments, so we won't need to make payments for a while. They've requested that we reduce our tax-free childcare payment down to £10 to let the credit reduce, but I haven't even started paying into the account yet, let alone paid the nursery from it.
Is this how it works? Our nursery account does show credit, but our tax-free childcare account doesn't show anything.
It'd be a massive relief if it's right, but I also can't see how it could be, especially as I thought you could only get up to £2k per year in help, and he's only going 3 days a week 🤯
