AIBU to take son to the GP for this?

My two year old has had a snotty nose and chesty cough for a few days. Today he's been absolutely miserable just crying constantly. His temp has been spiking on and off to about 38.4 but he's now very flushed and boiling to touch just lying on me and his temp is 40. He had ibuprofen about half an hour ago and no change yet. He's very moany and upset.

AIBU to contact GP? I appreciate it could be nothing and just a cold but 40 seems really high for him and he's prone to bad chest issues (diagnosed with asthma and been admitted before due to it) so I panic a bit when he's unwell!

I would absolutely seek medical advice

Definitely get medical advice.

Definitely ring your GP before they close and you are at the mercy of 111!

The NHS says that over 39c you should call your doctor or 111.

It doesn't say ask MumsNet ;)

Yep. Seek advice and I hope he's ok
